Lisa Brüggen new Endowed Professor of Retirement Communications and Choice Guidance

On January 1, 2024, Dr. Lisa Brüggen was appointed Endowed Professor of Retirement Communications and Choice Guidance. This chair is established and funded by Instituut Gak.

The pensions landscape has changed dramatically in recent decades. This shift has led to a greater need for effective retirement communications and choice guidance. It is for this reason that the endowed chair of Retirement Communications and Choice Guidance has been established, funded by Instituut Gak, a foundation that aims to improve the quality of social security and labor market policy in the Netherlands by funding projects and scientific research.

Lisa is the director of Netspar, partner of Tilburg University. She is also Professor of Financial Services at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE) and Principal Investigator at BISS, the Brightlands Institute for Smart Society at Maastricht University.

Getting better information

“The objective of the chair is to provide knowledge that helps people get better information earlier in the day about their retirement income”, says Lisa, “for instance, so they can make sound choices around their retirement date and the type of pension payments or about building up supplementary pension. Many people do not know exactly how much pension they can expect or what options are available.”

Read the post about her appointment on the Tilburg University website. The new chair also responds here to six common questions about pension and retirement, and she talks about how research can help improve the information pension providers give.

Netspar, Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement, is a thinktank and knowledge network. Netspar is dedicated to promoting a wider understanding of the economic and social implications of pensions, aging and retirement in the Netherlands and Europe.
