PhD meeting on Pensions 2022

We are very pleased to announce that the annual PhD Meeting on Pensions, an initiative of ITEM of Maastricht University and CCP of Tilburg University, will again take place in 2022. This year we are excited that also Netspar will join us in hosting this event. On Tuesday June 28, 2022, we would like to welcome you to this meeting at Tilburg University.

The meeting seeks to bring together PhD students with a research focus on pensions and related topics. It has a multidisciplinary scope, welcoming researchers from all disciplines. As a PhD student you will get the opportunity to present and discuss your research, expand your network and find collaborative opportunities. We will also organize one or two interesting workshops on communication and networking to provide you with inspiration and skills for your research practice. Senior researchers are very much encouraged to join us on the 28th to reflect on and stimulate the discussion. Please forward the invitation to fellow researchers with a research focus on pensions.

You can register by clicking the link and let us know if you are willing to present your research.

We look forward to welcoming you in Tilburg!

Policies that aim to extend working lives can be difficult for older workers who face high job demands, caregiving responsibilities, or health problems. One proposed solution is allowing employees to reduce their working hours in the years before retirement. Using data from 1,241 Dutch employees aged 60–63 over eight years, the study finds that about one quarter planned to reduce their hours and one third eventually did so. The results show that workplace arrangements for reducing work hours play a key role in enabling this transition, especially for employees experiencing high job pressure.
