Expertise
The Netspar network brings together expertise from many different disciplines. We also have ties to experts in the pension, retirement, and insurance industry.
Netspar ensures its expertise by means of the following instruments.
Collaborating with Prominent Scientists
Netspar works with many prominent scientists. In fact, our network includes hundreds of academic researchers from around the world. They work in a range of disciplines related to pensions, aging, and retirement, including:
- Economics
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Law
- Data Science
- Communications
- Health Sciences
We are bringing newer generations into our knowledge network, as well: talented junior researchers who are the senior researchers of tomorrow.
Incorporating Industry Expertise
Netspar has affiliations with both large and small partners in the pension, retirement, and insurance industry. Through them, we are able to bring together experts with a wide range of backgrounds and diverse specializations, including:
- Managers and executives
- Actuaries and financial specialists
- Communication specialists
- Tax and legal specialists
- Pension and retirement advisers
- Policymakers, supervisors, and regulators
- Social partners
Thanks to the expertise shared by these partners, our affiliated researchers can make a real impact doing research that resonates with professional practice. For example, these experts can point out to the knowledge network the practical challenges or issues faced by the industry. This, in turn, serves as inspiration for new research questions.
Equally important, these experts help researchers translate their scientific findings into policy applications, thereby contributing to the generation of research that has a social impact.
Providing a Podium for Scientific Discussions
Netspar provides a podium for researchers to engage in scientific discussions. There are a variety of academic meetings at which they can consult other researchers in their field, as well as colleagues from other disciplines, about what they are studying. Experience has shown that this inevitably yields valuable feedback.
Executive Education and Master’s Programs
The expertise possessed by Netspar is there to be shared. One way we do that is through our education programs. These include an executive education program offered in partnership with the TIAS Business School, which is aimed at pension, retirement, and insurance professionals who want to operate successfully in the industry.
We also offer a master’s program through the track The Economics and Finance of Pensions in the Tilburg School of Economics & Management at Tilburg University.
