Our Mission
Netspar advances a well-informed pension debate based on scientific research. We connect science and pension industry, contributing to future-proof pensions in the Netherlands.
We do this by means of:
- Knowledge development on the basis of five themes under which scientific research is performed.
- Knowledge dissemination through publications, meetings and events, and education programs for pension, retirement, and insurance professionals and graduate students.
- Network development by bringing together relevant target groups from academia and the industry.

Our Key Values
Objectivity
Netspar plays a role in fostering a pension debate that is based on scientific knowledge. One of the ways we ensure our objectivity is by abiding by existing guidelines on scientific integrity. In addition, our advisory bodies assess the quality and objectivity of the science we perform, and we have multiple checks and balances built into our procedures.
Expertise
The Netspar network brings together expertise from many different disciplines. We work with leading researchers and have ties to experts in the pension, insurance, and retirement industry. Furthermore, we provide a podium for scientific discussions and have a professional peer review process in place. We also pass on this expertise through our executive education and master’s programs.
Accessibility
As a knowledge network, Netspar is open by design. We are always receptive to having new partners and researchers join the network who can add value to it. Beyond that, the scientific publications put out by Netspar are free for everyone. And we communicate major research findings in an accessible manner, using language that is easy to understand for pension, insurance, and retirement professionals.
Knowledge Agenda and Action Plan
Netspar operates according to a knowledge agenda and action plan. We compile these documents for a four-year period in conjunction with our partners and other stakeholders.
