Online After Lunch Taskforce Meeting: Can flexibility and fiscally convenience increase the pension structure of self-employed persons?

Starting in November, Netspar will organize online After Lunch Taskforce Meetings for partners and employees of partners every week on Tuesdays or Thursdays, in which researchers outline their latest retirement research and then receive feedback and answer questions. It is just another way we bring science, academics, and professional practice closer together.

Pim Koopmans (University Leiden) and Marike Knoef (University Leiden, Tilburg University) will present the research they conduct with Max van Lent (University Leiden) during the Online After Lunch Taskforce Meeting on 17 December 2020. This is a Dutch-speaking event.

In this meeting you will hear more about: The needs of self-employed persons and employees for fiscal simplicity and flexibility in pension structure.

After this meeting you will have input on: You will learn the needs of self-employed persons and employees during the build-up phase. Among other things with regard to the combination of living and pension.

ZZP’ers bouwen relatief weinig pensioen op bij fondsen of verzekeraars. Uit bijeenkomsten met ZZP’ers bij het Verbond van Verzekeraars blijkt dat

  • ZZP’ers de fiscale aftrek ingewikkeld vinden
  • ZZP’ers er tegenop zien om het geld vast te zetten in een pensioenproduct. Als het bedrijf in financiële moeilijkheden komt willen ze het geld kunnen gebruiken. De COVID-19 crisis is een relevant voorbeeld.

In dit onderzoek analyseren we hoe belangrijk deze twee redenen (eenvoud en flexibiliteit) zijn voor verschillende groepen ZZP’ers. Dat doen we met behulp van een vignettenanalyse. We onderzoeken verschillende vormen van flexibiliteit, zoals:

  1. Opname van pensioenvermogen is alleen mogelijk met een boete
  2. Men kan geld opnemen wanneer het inkomen laag is
  3. Men kan geld opnemen voor investeringen en/of scholing
  4. Men kan geld opnemen voor hypotheekaflossing

Tevens vergelijken we de behoefte aan eenvoud en flexibiliteit in de pensioenopbouw tussen werknemers en ZZP’ers.
