Bijeenkomst Projectgroep Auto-enrolment
This event focuses on auto-enrolment, one of the recent recommendations of the European Commission.
Ruth Persian, Associate Director in the Research & Innovation team at Nest Insight, will discuss Nest Insight’s work to support self-employed people in saving for retirement, with a particular focus on the opportunities that auto-enrolment may offer for this group. She will share insights from research, trials, and practical experience in the United Kingdom.
In addition, the Netspar Auto-enrolment project group will present its findings on what the European Commission’s recommendations could mean for the Netherlands, as well as insights from the scientific literature on the effects, opportunities, and challenges of auto-enrolment. International experiences from countries where auto-enrolment has been in place for a longer period will also be discussed. Key questions include participation, freedom of choice, default options, and the design of retirement saving arrangements.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring representatives from policymakers, pension providers, and social partners. The panel will reflect on the opportunities, challenges, and practical implications of auto-enrolment in the Dutch context.
The project group consists of Lisa Brüggen (Tilburg University / Maastricht University), Bastiaan Starink (Tilburg University / PwC), Rosa d’Adelhart Toorop (VNO-NCW), Sandra van Dijkhuizen (Verbond van Verzekeraars), Nine de Graaf (PGGM), Patrick Janssen (PGB Pensioenfonds), Wilfried Mulder (APG), Erik Peters (Tilburg University), Gerard Riemen (FNV) and
Henk-Jan Wondergem (Ministerie van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid).
