The Dutch system of old-age and survivor benefits uses different definitions of partner, depending on the policy area and the underlying objective. The main objective of this study is to systematically analyze the desirability or undesirability of further harmonization of partner definitions across the AOW, taxation, the second pillar, and the third pillar, partly in light of the recent standardization within the second pillar under the WTP.
