Benoeming Marike Knoef tot decaan Tilburg School of Economics and Management

Het College van Bestuur van Tilburg University benoemt prof. dr. Marike Knoef tot decaan voor de Tilburg School of Economics and Management. Zij treedt in dienst op 1 februari 2023 en volgt interim-decaan prof. dr. Lex Meijdam op. Marike is algemeen directeur van Netspar. Daarnaast is zij werkzaam als hoogleraar empirische micro-economie aan de Universiteit Leiden en plaatsvervangend kroonlid van de SER.

Marike Knoef over haar benoeming: “Connected, curious, caring and courageous. Dat zijn kernwaarden van Tilburg University die mij na aan het hart liggen. Ik kijk er naar uit om als nieuwe decaan van TiSEM bij te dragen aan een toekomstbestendige faculteit midden in de samenleving. Daarbij hebben we elkaar nodig, want alleen samen kunnen we hoogstaand onderzoek en onderwijs verrichten, waarbij we verbinding maken met onderzoekers en studenten in Nederland en daarbuiten, andere disciplines en de praktijk.” 

Marike Knoef over haar vertrek bij Netspar: “Het was een moeilijk besluit omdat ik Netspar een bijzonder warm hart toedraag. Naar mijn overtuiging wordt de wereld beter wanneer wetenschap en praktijk samenwerken en wanneer verschillende wetenschapsdisciplines met elkaar verbonden zijn. Als directeur van Netspar zet ik mij daar, samen met de andere directieleden en het hele Netspar team, vol overgave en met enthousiasme voor in.”  

Netspar feliciteert Marike van harte met haar benoeming en gaat op zoek naar een passende opvolger die Netspar de komende periode gaat leiden en inspireren.

MARIKE KNOEF APPOINTED DEAN OF THE TILBURG SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT

The Executive Board of Tilburg University has appointed Prof. Dr. Marike Knoef dean of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management. She will take up her new position on February 1, 2023, succeeding interim dean Prof. Dr. Lex Meijdam. Knoef is currently the general director of Netspar. She also serves as the Professor of Empirical Microeconomics at Leiden University and is a deputy Crown appointee on the Dutch Social and Economic Council (SER). 

In reaction to her appointment, Knoef said:“Connected, curious, caring, and courageous: those are the core values of Tilburg University, and they are dear to my heart. As the new dean of TiSEM, I look forward to helping forge a school for the future, one that is an active part of society. Doing that will take all of us, because only by working together can we engage in premium research and education, whereby we make connections with other researchers and students in the Netherlands and abroad, with other disciplines, and with practitioners in various fields.” 

Knoef also had this to say about leaving Netspar:“It was a difficult decision because Netspar has a very special place in my heart. I am firmly convinced that the world is a better place when science and professional practice work together and when different scientific disciplines are interconnected. As the general director of Netspar, I have dedicated myself to that enthusiastically and wholeheartedly, together with the other directors and the entire Netspar team.”  

Netspar congratulates Marike Knoef on her appointment and will now search for a qualified successor to lead and inspire Netspar moving forward.
