Stability of risk preferences in the presence of misclassification

  • Paul Mohnen Paul Mohnen

We find evidence of misclassification in stated risk preferences of individuals in a household survey (GSOEP). Using a dynamic model for misclassified ordered discrete dependent variables, we try touncover the drivers of change in risk preferences. Misclassification-adjusted estimates reveal that these preferences are relatively stable but far from constant.
