Economic axioms in the health context: An experiment about kidney transplant preferences

  • Giacomo Battiston Giacomo Battiston

This thesis has been awarded the Netspar Bachelor Thesis Award 2015.

The thesis is organized as follows. First, theory and practice about DCE are briefly sketched. Then, a section is devoted to the theory of individual preferences, and its axioms. Subsequently, the approach of DCE to the testing of assumptions about individual preferences is examined. Next, attributes and levels to be used in the experiment are discussed. This provides guidance for the following section, where the design of the final questionnaire administered to the students is considered. Finally, the results of the experiment are analyzed and discussed and a concluding section deals with their implications for the development of DCEs in the field of kidney transplants.
