Netspar Brief 6 – New rules for pension communication in practice

From July 1, 2016, a new layered model for pension communication (‘Pension 1-2-3’) is mandatory for pension funds and insurers. This model should help to make the complex and comprehensive pension information easily accessible for participants. Does the current implementation meet the demands? Researchers Leo Lentz and Henk Pander Maat (both UU) analysed the websites of the 20 largest pension funds in the Netherlands on the use of ‘Pension 1-2-3’. They concluded that there the findability, user friendliness and quality of information can be improved.
