Taskforce day, December 12
Netspar researchers and partners met on December 12 to present the latest on the research underway and provide feedback. In addition to the usual plenary sessions and sub-sessions, this time there were also short, interactive poster sessions held. Various presentations and posters are available for download.
Introduction
Bastiaan Starink (TiU) kicked things off with an introduction to the design of the new tax framework for pensions proposed in the Pension Agreement. How does it differ from the present framework? What does it provide and what is up for discussion? How much leeway does it offer for compensation for the elimination of uniform contributions? , which appeared earlier this year in the ESB Special on the Pension Agreement.
Posters
New this time were the poster sessions: concise presentations of the research on a poster with no more than eight slides, a short pitch by the researcher, and plenty of time for questions and interaction.
Download the posters (only available in Dutch) for:
- The effect of infographics on investment decisions taken by students and professionals (Peter de Goeij, TiU)
- Education differences in life expectancy: the impact of eight risk factors (Wilma Nusselder, EUR)
- The willingness of older workers to work overtime (Raymond Montizaan, MU)
- The effect of simplicity and flexibility in pension plans for independent contractors: what are the preferences and what can help motivate them to save for retirement? (Pim Koopmans, LU)
- Income risk across the economic cycle (Raun van Ooijen, RUG, and Marike Knoef, LU)
- Amendment of the pension scheme by the pension board or by the social partners? (Jop Tangelder, RU)
Sub-sessions
In addition to the poster sessions and plenary introduction session, there were six sub-sessions in which current Netspar research was presented and discussed. Such topics were covered as reinvesting (under the Improved Defined Contribution Scheme Act) with guaranties, the impact of working longer on absenteeism, and the effects of nudging on decisions concerning pensions and retirement savings. You can download the available presentations (in Dutch) under the Program tab.
