Ageing: Facts and Consequences

Cardano-Netspar Seminar

Our society is ageing and that puts several of our social contracts under pressure. There is a lot of discussion around the retirement age in the NL and intergenerational fairness. But how does the increased life-expectancy manifest across different ages? How will aging impact pension funds and our social welfare system?
In this seminar, Karin Modig (Sweden) and Dorly Deeg (the Netherlands) will shed some light on data from two seemingly similar countries. Apparently, there are some intriguing differences which will be revealed as they share their latest research and compare the observations from both countries. After the two presentation, we will have a round table discussion on how ageing will impact the Dutch pension schemes and how to address the ageing society in a generational neutral way.
