* Note: The safety and wellbeing of participants is paramount to the Colloquium committee. We acknowledge the ever-changing COVID-19 situation has created uncertainty, also in terms of future travel, both interstate and overseas. At this stage the event will take place with a mix of in-person and online participation in a COVIDsafe environment and subject to the COVID-19 caveat with regard to government and university restrictions in place at the time, however, if circumstances restrict this we will convert to an online event entirely. Should this occur CEPAR will provide as much notice as possible.

Pensioen & Wetenschap Jaarcongres

Policies that aim to extend working lives can be difficult for older workers who face high job demands, caregiving responsibilities, or health problems. One proposed solution is allowing employees to reduce their working hours in the years before retirement. Using data from 1,241 Dutch employees aged 60–63 over eight years, the study finds that about one quarter planned to reduce their hours and one third eventually did so. The results show that workplace arrangements for reducing work hours play a key role in enabling this transition, especially for employees experiencing high job pressure.
