Themes
Netspar's themes are intended to stimulate entrepreneurship, commitment and coherence. Every year, Netspar allocates €1 million to three theme-based projects; the annual awards are given for a three-year period. The theme groups include researchers from various universities and institutes. Themes involve all three pillars of Netspar: research, education and knowledge exchange. The first three themes started in April 2006, and three new ones started in 2007.

The six themes are:

  • Valuation and Risk Management for Insurance Companies and Pension Funds
    Theme coordinator: Antoon Pelsser
  • Income, Health and Work across the Life Cycle
Theme coordinators: Maarten Lindeboom and Eddy van Doorslaer.
  • Private Retirement Provision
    Theme coordinator: Peter Schotman
  • Pensions, Savings, and Retirement Decisions
Theme coordinators: Rob Alessie and Arthur van Soest
  • The Macroeconomics of Pension Reform

  • Living longer in good health: prospects, strategies, consequences
