Netspar, born after quite an eventful pregnancy on March 30, 2005, already has a rich history. The idea for a research institute like Netspar was conceived when the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) announced in August 2003 that
Lans Bovenberg was awarded one of the 2003 Spinoza prizes.
Over 50 researchers (from PhD's to professors) and several program coordinators participate in Netspar’s research. There are four scientific directors.
